Is Triathlon Coaching Only for Elite Athletes?Triathlon Coaching is not just for elite athletes—it's for anyone who wants to improve their performance, regardless of experience level. Beginners, in particular, often have the most to learn, and the support of a coach can be invaluable. With guidance, even newcomers can quickly develop the skills and confidence needed to progress in their triathlon journey.
-
What Kit Do I Need for Triathlon? To get started, you'll need a few key pieces of equipment: a reliable bike, appropriate swimwear, and running shoes. A watch or heart rate monitor can be a great addition, helping you track your progress and optimise your training. While additional gear may enhance your experience, these basics are all you really need when starting out.
-
What is Training Peaks?Training Peaks is an online and mobile platform designed to help you plan, analyse, and track your training progress. It allows for detailed insights, so you can stay on top of your performance and prepare effectively for your races.
-
Can I Cancel at Any Time?Yes, there is no minimum commitment period. You have the flexibility to cancel whenever you need, making our coaching services as convenient as possible.
-
What’s the Difference Between Sports Massage and Other Types of Massage?Sports massage is targeted and specific, focusing on areas of the body that need attention due to training or injury. Unlike general full-body massage, sports massage often uses deeper pressure and specialised techniques to alleviate tightness, improve recovery, and prevent injuries.
-
Can You Help If I Am a Complete Beginner?Absolutely! Whether you have no experience in swimming, cycling, running, or even gym training, I can guide you every step of the way. In fact, working with a coach as a complete beginner ensures your training is well-structured, helps you develop the right techniques, and minimises the risk of injury.
-
What Qualifications Do You Have?I am a certified British Triathlon and Ironman University coach, Level 3 Personal Trainer, Level 3 Sports Massage Therapist, and a STA-qualified Swim Teacher. My qualifications reflect my commitment to providing high-quality coaching and support for athletes at all levels.
-
What Can I Expect from PT Sessions?During our first session, we’ll conduct an initial fitness assessment to identify your strengths, weaknesses, and goals. From there, I’ll create a personalised program tailored to your needs, offering plenty of guidance on form, progression, and technique to ensure you get the most from your training.
-
How Often Should I Get A Sports Massage? The frequency depends on your activity level, goals, and any existing injuries. Some athletes may get a sports massage weekly or bi-weekly, while others might benefit from monthly sessions. Some clients use sports massage to maintain flexibility and good body mechanics rather than treat injury.
-
What Should I Expect During a Sports Massage?Your session will begin with a thorough assessment to identify any areas of pain, tightness, or potential injury. The focus will then be on addressing these specific areas, using techniques designed to alleviate discomfort, enhance flexibility, and promote long-term muscle health.
-
How Often Do I Need to Train? The ideal training frequency varies based on your experience level and personal goals. My goal is to help you find the right balance of volume and intensity, ensuring your routine aligns with your lifestyle while avoiding the risks of overtraining.

About me...
Hi, I'm Alex
A busy mother of two with first-hand experience of training alongside full time work and raising a family. I am passionate about helping athletes achieve a balance between their personal training goals and the challenges of everyday life.
My long-standing love of sport and fitness has seen me complete marathons, sportives and long distance swims. I was in my late 30s before I caught the triathlon bug and decided to pursue my passion and qualified as a Level 3 personal trainer and triathlon coach.
I take an analytical approach and love to implement what is sometimes the simplest of changes to technique or approach that can make a big difference to performance and ultimately your enjoyment of sport.
